Passes to Passports

Family travel blog with real experiences and expectations

In early 2025, I wanted to do more than just sports writing. I had dabbled in entertainment and travel writing for one of the best companies on the internet, but it wasn’t me. It wasn’t what I wanted to bring from my travels. I wanted to experience travel, and I wanted to bring the reader with me. Not to give you the do’s and don’ts, but to give you an authentic view of what it is like.

In January of 2025 the concept for this site was born. I didn’t want to share travel tips, everyone on the internet does that and after watching far too many Youtube videos about Japan (each with their own idea of what you should and shouldn’t do) I made the decision to go to Japan and find out for myself. That was truly the start of this blog, and this journey.

Why did I wait so long to get this running? Well, life often gives your bumps in the road, but more importantly, I didn’t want to go to another country with a journlist mind. I wanted to experience it as a tourist. Like the road less traveled, it made the biggest difference. When I got home, I took what I saw and learned and began applying it to my writing. I gathered it, remembered it, and I cultivated a website that would deliver it. What I didn’t want to do was rush it.

Throughout 2025 I worked to build the sites infrastructure. I built my shells of where I wanted my content to take readers, more importantly, I wanted to build the experiences that I would be putting down in words. I spent 2025 building a website about real travel, travel you can experience without being told what you need to do because when you do what others tell you to, you miss out on the things that may have been the difference in a great vacation, or a good one.

Like you, our opinions are often varied and different. My likes are far different from my wifes, and that means your likes will be different from mine.

Traveling isn’t a necessity, it’s a want. We all share different interests and even members of the same family will see our world differently. Here, we share our experiences with a no-frills view of our travels. From Disney to Japan, hotel stays to airport experiences, and everything in between. Literally, from a Disney World pass to a passport that takes you out of the country, Passes to Passports.

Every travel journey begins with the first step off your front porch.

Unlike other blogs, we are not hear to “live stream” our time at Disney parks or tell you about the can’t miss itineraries to make your trip more productive. Instead, we want to you to get to where you are going and have fun from the start. Maybe we share something you want to see, or maybe our experiences are enough to convince you that it may not be up your alley. That’s what we are here for.

You have options when you travel, we won’t discuss things we know nothing about. I’m not going to sell you on a trip to Ireland when I have never been there myself.

Traveling with a family isn’t always easy, but if we wanted to travel alone, we wouldn’t have family would we?

Our family consists of my wife and I who have been married for more than 30 years. We have four children ranging from an adult, to two teenagers, and an elementary student. Needless to say, we have a wide-variety of interests. We hope to share those angles, views, and our experiences with you!
