Magic Kingdom 2026 magnet with Cinderella Castle and Disney icons

The massive mistake Disney is making with merchandise keepsakes

There is nothing in the world that is more coveted than a keepsake from a Disney park visit. There are keychains, t-shirts, coffee cups, and so much more. Even trading pins can remind you of your visit.

Despite all the fun little nicknacks, there is one glaring omission that Disney needs to start adding to their merch stores. It’s easy and cost-effective for both the company and the guests. It’s also a perk they already give Passholders. We are talking about magnets!

Annual passholders get free magnets throughout the year as a perk to being an AP holder. They are coveted by those having a pass, but also coveted by those who don’t. It’s never a surprise to see a non-AP guest swiping them off cars as they walk by. AP holders have been known to do it as well.

Disney needs to add themed magnets to their merch stores

I’m sure somewhere in the parks are small magnets that you can get with a character’s face on them, but what I’m talking about here are the 3″x3″ specialty types.

Each park should have its own that changes throughout the season. At EPCOT, a festival magnet could be sold. Magic Kingdom could sell special seasonal event magnets as well.

Throughout the year, a special character magnet could drop, one that is available at all of the parks. There are so many options.

Disney wants your money, but too much of it is leaving the parks because the parks are overpriced or too hard to ship home. Magnets? Not so much, and the best part is that Disney can set a relatively affordable price point. By making them collectibles, they ensure return purchases.

There isn’t a lot of merch to purchase when you head back to a Disney park for a second, third, or 100th time. There are tees with the year on them, maybe a hat or two. A festival glass or mug, etc., etc., etc., but it ends there. It doesn’t have to.
